A Week in the Life: Saturday

Worn out from last night, everyone sleeps in until 9:30--an awesome start to a Saturday. We get up, Steve gets Grace up and feeds her and plays with her while I work. I hear him reading to her (he changes stories to make me laugh) and I hear her saying "bayyybeeee" to the baby pictures in her room. She says "nana" (banana), which is new!

Steve plays with Rock Band on the Mac and Gracie dances to it. :) She naps after a lunch of pasta, and we relax and enjoy a lazy hour or two until she gets up, then we all drive out to the Reynolda campus to see the gardens. We are completely awed by fall here, and take turns swapping stroller and camera to take pictures.

Gracie LOVES being in her stroller. We push her for a few minutes on the grass, decide its too hard, and take her out to carry her. But she cries, big huge sad tears, until we put her back in. She happily enjoys a leisurely stroll through the rest of the garden, happy as a clam.

Steve thinks fall is neat.

Instead of going home we take a drive, talking about how much we used to hate it when our parents would take us on drives. Now we get it, and I guess we'll be inflicting the same emotions on our kids. :) Gracie's pretty happy as long as she has snacks, though.

We grab Starbucks on the way back with a long-forgotten gift card--raspberry hot cocoa for Steve and caramel apple spice cider for me. We sip them on the couch while Gracie has her dinner, then she plays by us and gives us kisses as we rest and watch Project Runway on the couch. We also read a letter that came about a scholarship Steve got, detailing some of the history about the family who provided it--it's sweet but kind of sad.

Gracie has a toasty warm bath and then plays guitar with Daddy or dances along to his music. We love her dancing, side to side, so happy. She even has special dances for certain songs (the theme song to The Office makes gets her pretty excited.)

We crave Caesar salad so Steve does a lettuce run to Harris Teeter after Gracie goes to bed, and comes back with all kinds of goodies, including Phish Phood ice cream. Mmm. We have hamburgers for dinner, and they are tasty and delicious. Lazy relaxing day. :)
