Under the Sea

We've got some catching up to do!

A few weeks ago Gracie had her very first birthday party because she was about to turn three! Ten friends (and lots of mommies and babies) joined us "Under the Sea" to celebrate. We started by coloring fishy pictures, and then moved on to a rousing game of Duck, Duck, Goose (not really sea related, but water related, and nobody really got how to play anyway).

Then we gathered in the dining room to make oceans! Everybody filled their bottles with sand, seashells, plastic fishies, blue (food colored) water, and a little bit of mineral oil (to make that pretty bubble layer on top when you shake it for waves!).

Then it was time for present opening, when she was lucky to receive lots of things she loves: art supplies, Fancy Nancy, stickers, and princess things!

Everybody helped...

Then it was time for cake!

Gracie had requested a sprinkle cake, so we went with Funfetti cake and some homemade buttercream to make an aquarium cake (just like the aquarium she and Daddy set up that week!). Goldfish crackers and Swedish fish populated it nicely, and graham cracker crumbs made for nice (and delicious) sand.

Then it was outside for water time! We set up two puddle pools and had lots of water toys and bubbles to play with.

I forgot to change the setting on my camera so they all turned out super bright outside--sad! But you can still see some of the cute faces. At one point all the girls were laying down "swimming" and pretending to be mermaids.
