My Fair Babies ;)

Get it? Because we went to the fair?! Thank you, Writing and Literature degree. ;)

As part of our ENJOY SAN DIEGO BEFORE WE LEAVE June, our little fam headed off to opening day of the SD County Fair on Friday afternoon. Steve got off of work early, so we hopped in the car as soon as Grace woke from her nap at 2. They shuttled us over from free parking on a school bus (I had a really severe flashback to elementary school field trips) and we plunked down our $26 and headed in! (It's only $2 if you go on Tuesday of this week! But count on a big crowd!)

Steve knew I would want to go on Friday because they were doing preliminaries for the Purina Incredible Dog challenge--kind of like dog olympics. As soon as we got in we cruised over to the arena where that was going down and watched dogs diving and doing agility runs. Grace had a bottle and some Cheerios. We left and came back later to watch part of the frisbee competition. Grace sat on our shoulders and bounced as she watched the dogs.

We also watched the pig races, which were adorable. The little things were only a few weeks to a few months old, and they ran FAST to get to the prize--a delectible Oreo cookie--at the end of the race. Here is Gracie enjoying the piggies. (Actually, I'm not sure she noticed them.)

We took a peek at the animals in one of the barns. There were goats, sheep, and cows, but only the sheep really did anything. One baa'ed at Grace; her eyes went wide as saucers and she just about jumped out of her stroller. Steve got her out to see a big pig and to meet a llama.

We finished out adventure by taking in a hypnotist show, then walking the vendor booths with a tasty Orange Julius. As Nacho would say, "It's the BAYST. I LOOVE it."
